Explorer 5.0
I have a few questions for you v8 owners. Im looking at a low mile 1996 with the 5.0. Should I avoid it because its the first model year 5.0 in the explorer? Another wise I could get a high mileage 1999-2001. I was also wondering what type of gas mileage to expect with AWD.

We have taken some long desert driving trips with our 96 AWD v8 5.0. Four trips in a year at 4k miles each. Mojave, Salt Lake, all over southern Utah, New Mexico...etc. The vehicle ran great in summer heat up to 122 F. Mileage on the trips 17/18. At home with the wife running errands...about 14/15. Bottom line, mileage is not good, but the engine is strong...
