The 351W forum STILL has lots of info on this engine and applicable cams and how they perform available and many experts on the 351W participate there.
Since this IS a performance and engine building forum hmmmmmmmm what was my qyestion about?OH YA building an engine! What common sense it takes to comprehend.tim.....drop a line and lemme know what you and others have had good experience with as far as the camsin the windsors.....we'll see if I can't get some decent replies in here.....if not well, I was gonna try the windsor forumanyways...aswell as others.
It ain't the fact he asked me to check in the 351W forum......don't make someone feel like and insignificant idiot....My thought process does go beond one single point of interest (meaning forums) though...you must be used to dumbfounded folks where you're from.....we'll seewhere I go with my questions next...maybe I'll just start to PM people to ask questions.....might be a little more hassle-free......
Some searching in the 351W forum will turn up a lot of valuable information and will lead to more specific questions for the experts over in the 351W forum. It may also turn up some users that don't actively participate that you may want to PM or Email with some questions about their specific setup.
I have run both edelbrock performer and performer rpm packages on a 351W with iron GT-40 heads, stock with the performer stuff, and ported and shaved a bit with the rpm stuff.
this was in a fox body capri, certainly lighter than a bronco, but with only a 3:55 gear.
I would still recommend the rpm stuff and some type of better flowing heads, either a gt-40, gt40p, any aluminum aftermarket head, dart jr or sr. or something that will flow over 200 -220cfm on the intake, 230 -250 would be better. just costs money.
Even with a speed pro "flat top" 351W replacement piston(it actually has about a 13cc dish) and a 58-60cc chamber and .010 deck it will be 9:5 or higher comp and will run well with good exhaust and some 4:10 gears with your 35" tires. if you have to run a stock shortblock for now, didn't 80's 351W engines have a deep dish in the piston? like 18cc or better? then a small chamber head would help comp ratio and make it a bit crisper.
