Well, ok. One day coming when I was getting ready to come home from a store, My truck Ran real funny. I went out and started it. When I turned the key, It started ok, then the RPMs went WAY down, almost to the point to stall the truck. So I touched the gas pedal and turn off the A/C to keep the engine from dieing and then all was well. So then driving home, I hear a humming noise and shut off the A/C. Then the noise is gone. So I turn the A/C back on and the noise comes back, only quieter. Why would the A/C be making noise? It also comes and goes. It isnt ALWAYS making noise. I need to replace the Cat and was hoping that would help. What say you guys?
For some details on the truck, I got it from my granddad. I have put about 1K on it. It already has 160K. It has had an easy life ( hauling light loads across the highway). It appears to be in good shape. THe oil has always been changed on time.
need a little more info.........year, engine, etc.......
When was it tuned up last? Plugs, wires, cap, rotor alll could be things causing the dieing. Might also be the IAC....cat could be a problem if it's running sluggish....
There could be a fuel pressure problem.
Does it run smooth when it's upto speed?
A/C noise could be the pulley or even the belt........is it blowing good and cold?
Put everything you can think of in here and you'll get better ideas of what it might be.
