E4od TC lockup
94 F250 460 w/e4od. Is this tranny supposed to stay locked when in 3rd and OD when coasting down hill at speeds over 35 mph. Coasting down hill the RPM stays up and the engine is on compression. When I give it the gas at the bottom of a hill I see a little surge in rpm and then the tc relocks and the rpm will drop a couple of hundred rpm and stays locked. It's a smooth operation but I'm not totally familiar with the way the e4od works. Is this normal ops??

That sounds right. When coasting, if the RPM are above 1500, the computer shuts off the injectors. When you give it gas, it is likely unlocking the T/C so that there is a smooth transfer of power, otherwise, you would be giving the tranny quite a shock. Once the tranny determines the input load is "safe", the T/C locks up again.
