Used my new used V-10 on our first road trip to pull a Coleman popup. I know its over kill but I have also have a enclosed 4 place atv trailer too. Anyhow my question is when I went to back up and park my trailer and let it idle for awhile the vents inside of the cab was blowing some hot air it was set for cool air not in a/c mode. It seem like the engine compartment sends a lot of the engine heat to the duct work on the fire wall. Has anyone else notice this?
Depending on what truck (CC, SC, RC) you have, you probably do not have a heater core shutoff valve.
In other words, hot water is constantly going through the heater core, and when you use the vents (even on cold) the entire heater box is warm. Result? Warm air out the vents.
And, even if you DO have the heater core shutoff valve, it only shuts off on A/C MAX.
Search the Superduty forum, there are some great posts on this subject from a few years back.
Like you said Art only during Max A/C will the core shut off vacuum actuate closed
IN the summer months I default it to permanently closed and I cycle it once a month for get fresh coolant into and out of the core... THIS is NOT a recommended hack unless you religiously cycle the coolant...stagnat coolant WILL rot the core and leak in you beautiful cabin...experiance speaking here....no grin
