Got a question about Recalls...
Is there a time limit or mileage limit on getting a recall done?? Seems that I remember one, but can someone clear the fog about this and give the absolute truth about the matter.
Thanks.

Sometimes an auto manufacturer will issue a bulletin about an "extended warranty" on a specific part for a specific problem... for example...
The cruise control deactivation switch is a recall. It has a high potential of causing massive property damage and death or injury should the recall not be performed. This recall has no time or mileage limit.. it just simply applies to certain years and models.
The timing chain tensioner campaign on the 4.0 is simply a "campaign".. the chain parts are covered for something like 5 years/100,000 miles, but ONLY if damaged due to a defective tensioner.
Really, if you have any questions regarding your specific vehicle(s), feel free to call your local dealer. They will be able to look up your VIN and using OASIS can see what recalls/campaigns are applicable to your vehicle.
Don't be afraid of them trying to "skimp out" of doing the work on your vehicle. There is no reason for them to do that. Ford pays the dealerships to perform these services when they apply, so it's more money in the dealership's pockets.. therefore it would be very hard to find one that will not want to perform your recalls, now look down upon you for inquiring into it.
Good luck!
Every dealer I've been to proactively looks for recalls when I go in and will usually leave me an Oasis report when I leave. Just last week I had a parts guy tell me to swing by service for a VIN check before I ordered parts because he thought there was a recall...unfortunately he was wrong!
It was a real pain having to leave the truck, but late the same day it was done. No charge.
They did give us a list of recommendations for service work adding up to about $700. We passed on that stuff. The truck is running well, with many highway miles on it.
