This is my first post and my first PSD. I have searched some threads about the powerelbow. I see some using the Elbow for 05-07 when they have a 03-04. What is the difference and is one better than the other for performance. I have a 03 F350
Sorry guys? Should have read new post for today instead of coming straight from search mode.
03-04 had throttle valves below the elbow...seperate piece from it...the idea of this was for the egr system. Some had them and some were blank...Ford got rid of the stradegy in the flashes so the ones that had them were disabled. 05+ did not have them at all...so everyone just uses the newer version. Specially on the 03-04 because the valve is a restriction. I have a 04 and use a 05 elbow...install is about 15 mins and is very worth it.
So can my dealership tell me if it was disabled. I checked to see if all the TSB and problems with the new 6.0 were fixed but did not see anything about the computer being flashed. I work for EMS and we use nothing but PSD and have a very good computer based scan tool. Would the scan tool be able to tell me if it has been reflased or weather the particular electronics are active or dormant.
the dealership wont tell you it has been disabled..on your core support it should have a sticker around there with the current flash code hand written on it...a scan tool wont tell you the flash code just give you the trouble codes...either way if u have a new flash or not you can still get rid of it.(elbow/valve)
I found a code under the hood and it was 222-17. I feal like Iam being a PITA but I still have warranty on my motor and my **** dealer is no fun to play with. I know from what I read the elbow is probably not a mod that will take a hit but they don't play well. Plus they are not very brite considering we will take our units 50 miles to another state and have them worked on.
