Anyone reproducing original looking radiators for 1950 F-1's? Seems there are a lot of companies advertising radiators for them, but when you ask if they look like the originals (like for a show truck) you get a lot of humming and hawing. Any ideas would be greatly apprciated.
How bad is yoru original radiator? can it be rebuilt?
It makes a difference if you have a V8 or a straight 6 radiator as well, the V8 radiator has two inlets and two outlets while the straight 6 radiator just has one of each.
There are other options for non stock looking replacements. Several guys here, myself included are using mid 70's Dodge truck radiators, I have heard tell of mid 70's Ford truck radiators, a few guys have had luck buying racing radiators from Speedway motors. There are alot of options out there....
I think the only way to make sure is to have an old one rebuilt.
I bought a Desert Kooler from US Radiator and it looked pretty darn close to the stock unit except the inlet and outlet. My application was a tad different the the flathead V8.
not trying to hijack your thread, but i was wondering what it would cost to have an original rebuilt? I also am trying to keep everything as original as possible.
It's a V8 and it was in pretty bad shape when he got the truck many years ago. The radiator had to be completely redon with a new tank and now that he is farther into a full rsto,he wants one that looks original, mainly the tank. My brother just sent me a note and said he got one through LMC,which I have never heard of but I will be checking with him later.
