I noticed about 3/16's of endplay in my rear axels. I also noticed a slight leak on the passenger side seal. I bought some seals and put the rear up on blocks and removed the tire/rims/drums, and removed the differential backplate (10 bolts).
Removed the pinion gears pin, had my wife push the axel in, and easily pullled the clip, and removed the axel.
My Haynes manual mentions a grommet under the "C" clip, but mine has none.
Is there supposed to be one ??
Is that the reason for the 3/16's endplay??
If so, should the grommet have about the same outside diameter as the "C" clip??
