So did anyone end up goin yesterday?
I stopped by on my way to the city for about 10min. Elwood was going slow as usual and at most there were 75-100 bidders, probably most were local acreage people.
At the time they were selling Chev diesel parts. A full set of rebuilt rockers brought 15 dollars.
The only Ford stuff I found was small block and stuff for a 400 motor. I did see a nice pair of 390 heads and a 352/390 crank but didn't feel like wasting a day on them.
I envy y'all up there on the prairie. You get to go to farm auctions, all we have here are "estate sales." Most are composed of picked over crappola, from other "estates" (garage sales) the auctioneers add in. The last one I went to offered in the ads, an "original" Conestoga wagon wheel. Only one problem, the wheel was marked: Made in India!

Pays to look close Bill.
I didn`t make the auction as close as it was to me, got busy and didn`t make it.
The wheel was taller than I am, and had a Hindi sanskrit pattern burned into the wood...hmmm. Now I know the rear wheels of "Prairie Schooners" were larger than the front wheels. But I never saw one that was taller than 6-5. Russell, Waddell and Majors were the manufacturers of Conestoga's, and were located in Pennsylvania, not Bombay, India.
Man if you wanna talk about someone who can find the deals at auction sales, you guys got to meet my uncle. He has so much cool stuff he has gotten from auction sales. this summer if I have time to go out there im going to try and get one of his old ford trucks off of him, and Im gonna take tons of pictures.
