Engine Swap

Ok I have a 1985 Ford F150 with an In it and have a 1987 Ford car with a 302 in it and was planning to swap the 300 for the 302, Will this work? What mods will I have to make?

lots. The inline has different frame mounts, radiator, throttle cable, flywheel balance, etc... the 302 you have which, I would guess is a CFI, would technically drop in, but cfi, I think, requires different fuel lines, all the sensors, fuel pump, etc...torque to power, you won't gain hardly anything. The car is lighter and more aerodynamic, creating the illusion that it'll give the truck more mpg and power. Rebuild the 300, or go for the gusto with a 5.8...they move trucks better. But it can be done, technically.

ok you're gonna need the frame perches for the 5.0(theses are what the motor mounts bolt to. You're current tranny will bolt up. Is it sytandard or auto?

frame perches you can get from any pick a part wreckers. You'll notice that the one's for your 300 sit basically on top of the frame and crossmember. the one's for the 302 sit behind(towards firewall) the crossmember and even with the top of the frame. You'll also need the 302 flywheel. Your torque convertor and tranny will bolt directly up to the 2

yes you can. have you pulled the 300 out yet? Cause it doesn't come out as easily as you'd expect

no problem. I just did the same swap in my 96 last year. There's actually quite a few mods or changes you're gonna have to make to your current setup to make this one work. You said the motor has been converted over to carb'd. Does your 85 have an electric fuel pump located in the tank?

You have 2 choices for the rad. The easiest one is to replace with a 5.0 one. You can use the 4.9 rad but you'll have to make up your own rad hoses for this cause the inlet/outlets for the 4.9 are on the opposite side of the 5.0. Pretty easy fix though cause you can go buy the flexible rad hoses to make your own like I did
