Go to MIRC and pick server DALnet.net then join #Effies. and you should be able to get on.
I was awhile getting it to work but a bit of persevering paid off.

Our regular Chat Room is still down. Is anybody home at IT? It has been at least three weeks now and I know of at least three trouble tickets on it.

 

Likely they're not particularly worried about it since they haven't even acknowledged my trouble ticket.

RJ, if you run Firefox, you can download a free chat add-on for it by the name of ChatZilla. Once you've installed it, follow Don's instructions and connect to a Dal.net server. You'll find us in #Effies. Just type /join #Effies once you're connected to the server.

I'd love to chat tonite. It just seems ridiculous that we have to do this to talk anymore.

 

I'm with RJ on this one, need a little help here. Seems like I'm a total dunce when it comes to this aspect of computer use.

 

I probably won't be around tonight (unless it is really late). I have a ton of "piece work" to get done for mom. I worked until 3:30 AM this morning, slept for a while, went to dialysis, and then back to work again.

I just need a break for a minute (snack).

It is one of those weekends. LOL

OK, once you've downloaded Chatzilla, you need to go up to the Firefox "Tools" tab and then select Chatzilla in order to run it.

Once that has launched, it will give you a welcome screen layed out not-unlike the former chat. Go to the bottom where the different Nets are listed (in blue) and click on DalNet. Once that connects you, type /join #Effies in the text box and you should be fine.

 

OK. I got in.

The only thing that Nuthin's instructions didn't include is how to put up your "handle". When you enter the chat screen at Dal.net, type /nick (your handle) (i.e.: /nick RandyJack), and your screen name will show on the list at left.

All I get is an error for dalnet.

 

Try typing this: /server punch.va.us.dal.net

See if that will connect you

 

I can connect to dal.net But when I type in /join#Effies It says unknown command.

 

Rusty, make sure you put a space between join and #Effies.
