New (to me) truck in WA

Got me a 1997 F350 crew 4x4 with the PS diesel. Is everything on this motor electric/electronic? Trying to head to Ellensberg yesterday, truck shut down and won't start. Cranks fine.

truck shutdown

I had a similar experience in my 87 f150, there is a switch on the firewall that will shut down the truck with warning,no symptoms, just power off-cranks,has electric power but no fire. I don't know the name of it, but its a circuit breaker type of a switch. A friend + mechanic replaced it, and knew what it was as soon as I described what happened. So I'd check with a mechanic to see if ford still uses this type of a "mystery switch"

Welcome to both of you!

Be sure and post tech questions in the tech forums. Just click on the Forums tab at the upper left and scroll over the boards. There are boards specific to your year of truck as well as engine and other major systems listed. They are the best place for help.

Also stop by your state chapters. They are listed towards the bottom of the Forums list.
