A buddy of mine was driving his '97 150 last night and noticed his temp gauge was sitting on 'cold'. At the same time, he thought he noticed a coolant type of smell. He popped the hood and everything seems to be okay with coolant level and there was no smell once he had the hood open. So he was thinking maybe it was a different vehicle he was behind or something.
But what would account for the gauge still just riding on "c"? Broken gauge?
I had the same problem with my mustang, i know different vehicle and all but same idea. Its really easy to replace just unconnect the connection on it, unscrew the old one and screw the new one in and plug it back up, be careful though not to tighten it in too much and to let the engine cool because if it is still hot the coolant will spray out at you, lol i wasn't thinking when i replaced mine and found out the hard way, faceful of coolant sure was fun.
No pictures but i know like previously said its on the drivers side on the block, i believe its on top by the front of the intake manifold if my memory serves me.
