I too am in need for a new battery....It has been suggested to get either the regular interstae battery....or the "Super" Interstate battery for a liitle more....looking at $75- 90 for an new battery...
I've been using the Wal-Mart EverStart battery on the F150 for a long time-never a problem. The Navigator has a DieHard silver series on it..same thing. I've got an Interstate here that's on the work truck-it's about 3 years old,and is just now starting to have issues with holding a charge-I think it's time to take it in for replacement.
I've seen others and have experienced nothing but trouble out of those optimas...they're garbage.

I've had some problems with marine optimas lately, but the yellow top I had in my last truck gave me 6 years of excellent (full discharge every weekend for 4 months a year) of service. I haven't had any returns on the red tops.

Consider yourself lucky then. I know several folks that have had multiple Optimas and have since replaced them with other batteries with no problems afterward.

I have a Kirkland from Costco, cost $45 or something, I originally bought the Gold Everstart from Advanced but it's made by the same people as the kirkland, even had the same manufacturer sticker...and 1/2 the cost.
I wouldn't spend money for an optima unless I had a need for it, IE some type of stereo, winch, etc..
I have the Napa Gold or whatever it is in the Expedition and an Escort. I have a DieHard Gold in my Mustang and the battery is over 5 years old and still good. The Explorer has a Werker in it and has been good to me.
I just replaced my original Ford battery (97). Spent every year up north and cranked it down to -35. No complaints. BTW, I got a 1000 amp farm store battery for $65. I figured I didn't need another 10 year battery.
Ive had good luck with Optima in the past but cannot justify the extra bucks for it! I recently put a Napa Limited series batt in my Expy with no problems. Also I noticed that this battery has 880 cold cranking amps which was pretty high for what's out there for around 70 bucks!
