For no reason in the world should this be done.
It is a new model engine and would be very difficult to do in the first place, but I have seen someone put a 5.4L for a 04 F150 into a 78 Bronco and that thing was nice. He even put the 04 dash and seats in it also.... Very nice!
But chevy in Ford.....

I'm in no way on board with the Chevy idea (yes, I own one too), but if you're looking for something to make a hot rod, I'll share with you an idea I've been toying with for a while.......
Why not a Lightning/GT40 351W? Add a modest lowering kit, Addco swaybars, a set of 17x8's and appropriate rubber, and make a vintage Lightning? Maybe even the T-Bird SC seats and decals too?
There's a 79 2WD for sale up the road here, and if only I had the money............

Chevy in a Ford = BORING!!!!!!!!Don't screw up the classic Fords by installing a BORING engine under the hood. If you've seen one small block/big block Chevy, trust me you've seen them all. It doesn't matter what modifications are done to them, they all Look the same - BORING. Just my opinion!. Did I mention that Chevy engines are BORING?, well they are!

It's your truck dude, but I wouldn't even replace a BOP engine with a Chevy engine. If I were you I would put the same motor it came in there stock, unless it was a 300 and you have to have a V8. If thats the case at least put a 351 in it, don't bother with the 302 unless it's cheap and it's got GT-40 heads from an Explorer, I know someone who swapped one in a 73 F-100 that had a dead 360 to begin with, and that truck will fly now, but probably not as good as the 360 when it was fresh. If it had a 300 the Windsor and 351C Engines will fit the bolt pattern of the tranny, if it has a big block bolt pattern put whatever you can find in it, 351M, 400, 429, 460, and I don't know if the FE engines have the same bolt pattern as the 385 and 351M and 400 engines or not. If it has a 300 and you don't need the V8 sound, heat that 300 up it won't dissapoint, and it will last forever.

That is an LS(X) engine with aluminum Vortec heads. It has a bit of a limitation with the small bore size, but is making 1hp per CI, and is capable of more, (a lot more) and is a hot engine right out of the box. The 4L60E is a strong unit too. That is actually a very potent combo, and not too hard to wire, or install. I run them in rock buggies.
We have guys wondering whether or not to send early Ford trucks to the scrap heap or not, and nobody complains about that . But everyone has a heart attack because someone wants to install a bow tie in one. Hey, at least the guy is keeping it on the road, and not sending it to the crusher.
Even life with a bow tie powerplant is better than sitting around with no engine at all, with weeds and stuff growing up through them, or chickens living in them.
How many of those have we seen?
We also have guys instaling Cummins engines in these trucks, and they get a pat on the back.
I say, as long as it is on the road, and not parked, cool, so let individuals be individuals, and don't get so bothered if someone dares to do something different. They are not asking you to do it, just want to do it themselves, thats all.
