351m MYSTERIOUS Problem

The first five cranks was good...does this mean it had compression?

If it gets compression after squirting the oil in, rings are bad.

Pull the valve covers and have someone crank it. Watch the valve spings they should all go down and up. If one or more gets hung that is the problem. I would check both heads.

i took of the vavlve cover and found that the aft push rod for the #5 cylinder fellout.Its lying on the bottom and seems to be in one piece. Im getting my mechanical fingers to pull it out tomorrow.


What would cause it to "pop-Out"? u dont think its bent.

Excessive wear in the valve train or wrong size pushrod.

Cap off of 3 piece valve may have busted off. Check with your other valves to compare the tip height.

...Thanks for advice, i took the rod out , inspected it and reinstalled. shes runnin like a top now!
