Odd electrical issue?

This sorta had me wondering earlier. Did a little showing off last night in downtown in the Silverado, came to a quick stop, put it in park, and revved the engine up to 3000-3500. The speedo jumped up to about 20 and came back down. I haven't seen it do it again. Any suggestions? Speedo works fine, as does the entire dash.

Could be in the harness, where the speedo and tach are twisted together. I've seen it lots on big rigs. Sometimes the harness is rubbed through shorting on the trans, sometimes the tach is shorting to the speedo, and in some extreme cases that I've heard about, the tach harness induces a current into the speedo harness.

That's probably not your problem though, as a Silverado should have a bit more brains put into it.

Had a 96 S-10 with an auto that did that. Not certain what the issue was. I thought it was something to do with the internal workings of the transmission.

I figure if it doesn't do anything to the dash, speedo and tach read correctly, I'm not going to worry about it. It doesn't always do it, and it's not like sitting in park revving the engine requires the speedo to work.

Thanks for the input guys...I may follow the wires anyways, just for fun.
