I know you guys get alot of these questions, and I apologize. I'd really like to restore an old ford, preferrably an F1, but came across this F2. Does anyone think it would be a decent candidate for a restoration and what would you pay for it? Thanks!
If by "restore" you mean: lower it, paint it flat black, throw a mexican blanket on the seat and drop in a 351W and T5, then I'd say offer $500 or less. If by "restore" you mean reproducing factory paint marks and fastener finish, pass on this truck and look out for a retired firetruck that's been parked indoors for 50 years.
I see nothing wrong with a F-2. The more you pay, the less work for you. Make a do list of any vehicle you may want and see how much you want to invest in money and labor. Some of the best trucks were rusty and discarded to begin with, but it's time and money, either you or hire it done. This is mostly a site for do it yourself people. How deep is your pockets and how much time can you contribute. Occasionally someone finds a little old lady's cherry car for $50.00 but they are few and far between. I've talked to others paying $200.00 and up. See how much rust that can be repaired or replaced. Welcome to the group. Have a great day, chuck

Reason: addition
I guess my "restoration" would be more like angus' first description. V8, lowered, etc. I'd probably cut the frame to make it short wheel base, although I may have found an F1 frame in order to avoid that.
I have time and ambition, but my pockets have short bottoms. That being said, does the F2 in the pictures look like it is beyond repair? I'm basically looking for a sound cab and decent frame. I plan on replacing the box and drivetrain. (Drivetrain replacement is obvious if I go with this truck!)
It's pretty rough but doable. Mine was about this shape or a little better but less complete. Make an F-1 driver out of it and you will be satisfied with it. That's what I did with mine...$500 or less sounds about right...
