Generally speaking, you should not need to change any of your steering or suspention components just because you are changing tires. However, in order to fit larger tires, you made need to make changes just for clearance purposes. I have found the following guidelines are pretty accurate for most early Broncos:
Tire Size Modifications Required
Up to 31x8" Stock Suspention, Uncut Body
Up to 32" Stock Suspention, Rear Flares
33" 2.5" Lift, Rear Flares
35" 5.5" Lift, Rear Flares
These are by no means the end all for all tires. Different brands of tires measure differently and rim offset plays a key factor. You need to decide what the goal of your new tires is, and then make the modifications (if any) to get them on your truck.
