I have changed my fuel pump to an electric with 6lbs PSI going into my edelbrock 600. I have a 4 barrel intake, 9 inch rear with 3.25 gears and an AOD tranny. Why can't I save gas??? I know gas prices are up but when I fill up the 15 gallon tank, by Friday I am near the empty zone. SOMEONE/ANYBODY can you please help ME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you actually checked your mileage? Has the mileage deteriorated since you changed to the eletric pump? Perhaps you are driving more miles than you realize. The 3:25 and AOD should give you pretty good mileage as long as the AOD is coming into play (highway driving instead of city) and you can keep your foot out of it....

Ah, there is the hard part. If you can manage it, you're one up on me....lol
Driving style effect fuel consumption quite a bit, a slow and steady acceleration is more efficient than quick accelrations. A steady gas pedal foot is more efficient than a constantly varying, on/off, on the gas, off the gas, herky jerky gas pedal foot, etc, etc, etc
Go over everything you would adjust during a tune up. Does all the dist. functions work correctly, including vacuum. Check plugs to see if burning to rich. Check tire pressures. Check to see if you have any brakes dragging, including emergency brake. Prior written items, to big of a carb, AOD engagement. Have a great day, chuck
