Best chip/programmer?

What is everybodies opinoin on the best chip/programmer. I have been in a few 6.0's that moved good. I've been in a couple 6 speeds with the Hypermax mach 7 and it runs great. I've been in an auto that had a bully dog something in it, and i think at once a PPE. i hear SCT alot. . . but whos is the best?

If you read around in here a bit you will see that the most highly suggested is the SCT Excal II. Most will also suggest that you buy from Long Island Performance Diesel and get custom tunes from Matt.

For the 6.0 the tuner of choice is the SCT XcalII with custom tunes from Matt at LIPD.
www.lidiesel.com.

Stay far far away from any "Chip/inline fuel module" (ie Banks, Edge, Bullydog, Dr.P etc) for the 6.0. They will cause engine and transmission problems.

For the 7.3 Yes, for the 6.0 NO!

Hope this helps

speaking from experience....like most here don't about the edge w/ attitude.....my truck runs and runs pretty darn good. no tranny problems contrary to everyones biased sct attitude on this site. the sct is undoubetedly a good tuner, but the edge will hold its own in a fight for sure.....best way to get the answer for what's better, find someone who has them, otherwise you'll just get sct is great and edge is junk around here.....unfortunetly....nothing against you blackhat....just tired of hearing about sct and how the edge causes problems when they dont

HAHAHAHA--that's funny. The edge won't come close to holding it's own in a fight with the SCT. It's been documented over and over how many people have transmission problems with inline fuel modules like the EDGE and BANKS. There's no way you can set as many parameters with the Edge as you can with the SCT. You bring your little edge box and I'll spank your truck's *** BAD.

see what i mean...point proven..thanks npcxxxx=who care's!

you sound tuff bud.....i'd take you up on the edge vs. sct challenge, so far i'm 2 for 2 haven't lost to an sct....maybe they didn't have the extreme/hot or whatever extra tunes that you have to buy (not sure what tune they had) but either way all they seen was smoke and taillights...

as for the tranny problems....the 1st issued edge did have probs., but the edge w/ attitude has a tranny controller and mine works fine. an '03 w/ little trouble all the way around

btw...sorry for having an opinion that differs from the majority on this site...

LOL--you'll lose to mine and I'll feed you lots of smoke. No way will your edge keep up with my SCT. I don't care what you do to or with it. If you beat an SCT then whoever tuned it didn't have a clue as to what they were doing. I've only been outrun by an '03 cobra on the interstate--not that there aren't others than can't--but your edge won't--that I'll guarantee. Lets start at 100mph and go from there. If you can keep up from there I'll give you kudo's, but it won't.

You can post your opnions on the "Edge" all you want, but the documented proof with engine and transmission problems is in numerous threads on FTE and the guys who race them have tested and used all the products on the market, and the SCT XcalII with custom tunes comes out on top in all categories by a large margin everytime. The "Edge is junk" statement comes from the guys who have run them, had problems with them and traded them off for the SCT XcalII with custom tunes. The Edge does not have the tuning abilities or the update abilities of the SCT XcalII.

The EDGE and the similar products on the market do cause engine and transmission problems on the 6.0 & torqueshift.

But hey it is your motor and tranny, drive it and break it how you would like

Talking A whole lot-a smack goin' on...

There has always been a rift between opinion and data, however;
Everyone has one of them, and anyone can manipulate the other.

I like the idea of custom, rather than canned tunes. Although I have a canned tune-tuner at this time (SCMT1704)--and really like it--I'll still get the SCT when $$ free-up. That is opinion & data!

Peace, my brothers; and drop the hammer at the green!

Hiflyer746 asked for the "Best" chip/tuner.

A "Chip/inline fuel moduel (ie Banks, Edge, Bullydog, Dr.P etc) is a recipe for disastor on a 6.0 and the torqueshift. (FYI the Chips/inline fuel modules cost as much or more than a custom tuner)

On the computer controlled OBDII CAN bus 6.0 & Torqueshift that only leaves "Tuners" as an option. There are two types of "tuners" available,
1) Pre-programmed off the shelf, one size fits all programs (same one size fits all theory that All OEM manufactures use).

2) Tuner with "Custom" tunes written specifically for Your truck, payload and driving style.

The "Best" tuner and tuner of choice for the 6.0 & Torqueshift is the SCT XcalII with Custom tunes from either Matt at LIPD ( www.lidiesel.com) or Eric at Innovative ( http://ophion.site5.com/~dieselta/store/). The SCT XcalII programs can be customized by the program writer at any time and emailed to you anywhere in the world. The SCT XcalII also data logs all the parameters in your truck and these can be reviewed and downloaded to your home computer for future reference, also the data logging capabilities can be used to locate an intermittant problem that does not set a CEL. The prices from Matt & Eric are equivalent when you get an apples to apples comparison. So the choice is left to the purchaser as to who they feel most comfortable doing business with.

Tim if you want the best, most customizeable and best performing programming enhancement for your truck the preferred choice for the 6.0 & Torqueshift is the SCT XcalII with Custom tunes from Matt or Eric.

Hope this helps
