I've been smelling oil inside the cab for a while, finally I found the source,
need to replace the valve cover gasket, but it looks like a lot of work, not sure if the whole intake manifold for that valve cover have to come out?
They aren't too bad.. you only have to remove the upper intake (plenum) to get clearance. Make sure you install a new plenum gasket at that time.
However.. these aren't real popular for leaking... make sure your PCV valve isn't stuck closed.. and also take a close look at the oil pan gasket.. these have a habit of "pooching" out and causing a major leak, especially up near the crank pulley.

I'm gonna have to keep looking because I was wrong the oil I saw around the valve cover gasket is old , so that's not it!
I don't see the pan leaking anywhere, but I still can smell the burning oil inside the cab no smoke or anything like that, but it stinks and I get a bit sick of the odor after a wile need to roll down the window
Maybe I should degrease the engine and surrounds?
my 4.0 did have a valve cover leaking, it wasnt bad, but did have a noticeable smell after driving. i had to replace my lower intake gaskets due to a severe vacuum leak, so i put on new valve cover gaskets at that time. (and painted the valve covers with chrome spray paint)
Cleaning the engine will make the leak easier to find thats for sure. When's the last time ya replaced the PVC? Every couple years isn't to often I don't think.

PVC VALVE IS CLEAN, I don't understand what this valve have to do with the smell of oil?
PCV: they can shake rattle and roll, look taste and smell clean and still stick causing excess crank case pressure causing oil leaks or just the smell. If it's bad enough ta make ya sick than it must be running on the exhaust some place. Look for burnt oil spots there. I had a leaking epowersteering hose on a dump truck get a driver Medivaced just in time. Find the problem. Please don't let it go if it is making ya sick. That stuff will stay in yer system for the rest of yer life. Don't haul anyone ya like in that truck till ya fix it please.

that' news to me?
I always been told if rattles no need to change, how can it sticks if it moves?
Your rattling it has a lot more force than the vacuum it gets to make it work. There for even though it rattles does not mean it won't stick with just the vacuum. Back in the day of there first being used it was spendy to replace them. So if they rattled we would clean them with WD40 or something and stick them back in. But today they are only a few bucks so why take the chance. Although I'm not one, I know folks that change them at every tune up in this dusty country.
I'm willing to put money on the power steering fluid leaking onto the exhaust. I would say thats probably more common than a valve cover gasket or oil pan gasket.

You could be right because I had a bad rack & pinion leak, but I'd replaced it about 3 weeks ago and I gunk under the truck and rinsed, you think that some rack fluid still burning?
I don't see any drop or anything and ol the fluid and motor oil levels are fine?
the oil stain that I found around the valve cover gasket is old and dry no fresh oil anywhere around it.
I might need to wait a little longer until ol the old rack fluid burns out?
