PTC heater?

Truck I just bought has PTC heater on option list. I know it is the quick cab heater, but I can't find any switches or any info on it in the manuals. Does it just operate automatically with the normal heater?

Yes it operates automatically with your regular heater, got to use mine a few times when it was 20* out. had heat coming out 100 yards up the road. I like it even better than electric seats.

How well does the normal heater work without the Supplemental Heater, how long does it take to warm up the truck generally?

Just enough difference to blow warm air on you for the 1st couple of miles to take the chill off. Took delivery in April so didn't get a whole lot of time to test it. This was my first diesel, other diesel owners can probably comment on how long it would take to heat up around the 0-10*area

So its not like I would be freezing my *** off without it or anything, it will still warm me up somewhat, just not as quickly as with the PTC.

I am wondering the same thing. Do they offer this because the 6.4 takes longer to warm up than previous trucks? I know they have a massive cooling system now.

I have it on mine and while winter is over it seems to me that it is instant heat here.Look forward to seeing how it works out in winter. I also was confused re no switches etc. and figured it must run through the regular system but does it cut out eventually as the regular sysyem heats up?
