the guy i bought this truck from lost the keys. what should i do, call ford or just replace the door locks and the ignition? What info do i need for ford, or can they even help. 88 f250. thanks guys
Replace door locks and ignition key cylinder. Not the cheapest solution but you dont want that guy finding the keys and being able to unlock and start your truck when he pleases.
Proof of ownership and VIN# and dealer who sold the vehicle, your copy of title transfer papers to you , receipt of purchase will help too especially if it has VIN# on it, and go to the dealer who sold the vehicle and ask them to cut a key. That would be the least expensive route.
Got myself locked out of mine at a Ford dealership and had them call the dealership where I bought it and they verified me as origonal owner/buyer and the dealer where I was stranded cut me a key. How convenient and it cost me like $5 for a single door key.
On the dealership thing, I went to my dealer today, because I just happenned to lose my one and only ignition key. Dealer said they can only re-cut a key from 1996 to present, then said ..more like 1998 to present. Just get a locksmith to re-key it.
