What does this tube do?

on deleting the smog pump all you have to do is buy a shorter belt, and bypass it. plug off all vaccume lines to the intake manifold, go to the hardware store and buy 2 plugs to plug the back of the heads, and delete all the useless crap that was hooked up ( vaccume cans and lines, etc...) your truck will run better with all that gone.

I removed mine, ran a short belt and disabled the EGR and Thermactor switches with the tuning software I use (SCT Advantage). It's not going to gain you anymore power and not exactly a leagal practice, but it sure does clean up the engine bay.
