You need a gear set for yours? I have a couple of lower ones around, and am going to 3:10 ratio myself.
I'll be doing the same soon as well. This 2.73 Open Diff is killing my performance.
Well so is the stock 360. That's going to change. I have a couple of other cars that get 30mpg so....I won't mind taking the Ranger from 16mpg to 11 or so.
PM me as you do yours. I'd like to be involved. Thanks.... AJ

There is a crush sleeve that requires 300 ft/pds torque to set the pinion into the case. Mike likely has the tools to do that. Why don't you gather your parts and join us?

Just let me know when. I'll try to come up with the parts in short order. I looking at starting a new job shortly which would help give me the funds to do the gears motor and tranny parts on my project....

I'd like a Locker .... and I haven't experienced a lot of noise with them .... However maybe limmitted slip or lock right....

What do ya think? Sorry if I highjacked ... perhaps we do need to start another thread?

P.S. Don't forget to PM me when the next Project Truck work day is as well please.

I'll post up when I order my parts for the 9inch, today I'm going to pull the pan on the 460 and take a look inside and see how things are, if all's well (and I'm sure it will be...I have a good feeling about it) I'll be ordering the cam swap parts and my install kit for the 9-inch...I might jump the gun on you guys though and have mine done before you are able to get here...but no worries, I can practice on mine and be an expert when you guys arrive

What do ya think? Sorry . . . .
Our use maybe different - I am looking for something that works in mud and soft sand as I am replacing a 4wd. I want something I can use on unmaintained mountain roads.

All the limited slip rear ends I have ever owned have failed me when I needed them the most. The clutches in the rear end fail if you ask too much of them. The lockers are sure fire work.

People tell me they can make it hard to steer on slick roads, most often complaining about an icy parking lot. This makes sense, but the only time I will ever experience icy roads I will be heading for better weather - if necessary I will wait for better weather and then head south.

I hope I never again see an icy road!!!

I haven't gotten a return email yet from the guy on CL with the DOVE heads, I've sent him my number again, maybe I'll get a call later on...was hoping to have them here before this afternoon before I got too busy.

Oh well.

Looks like we're in good shape with the bottom end, I pulled two mains and they look like new, pan was already drained and had some residue in it, but I think it was just dust and stuff from the top end...I noticed some of the little leaf things that were under the VC's and in the4 lifter valley, were also in the bottom of the pan...I may have blown them through with the airgun...

So, I don't see a reason to change the bearings, we'll hold off until a future time if we ever have to pull th egine for another reason.

Going to make another post about parts to order.
