I bought a 1992 Ford F150, 302, Overdrive Tranny. for $750 at a police auction in Kansas City. It has 160,00 mi. I can get 100,000 or more out of it with good care. But the Transmission shifts hard into 2nd gear. What are possable causes that could make this happen?
My 92 has an AOD trans.......and I have found that mine will shift hard at different times.......sometimes a noticeable clunk going into OD. When I first got it, it sometimes shifted hard to second like yours. If the fluid is good and clean and doesn't smell burnt.......I'd say it's a fairly normal thing.
As I drive it more....I've learned how to not have it happen as much. My fluid is good and clean so I haven't changed it yet.
It could have a kit in it too......set to make it shift hard.......the kits I've seen have different settings for the type of shifting. It's done inside, when it's installed by different ***** and such.
