I am new to this site and the 6.0 psd. I have recently purchased a 04' excursion with the 6.0 psd with 90,000 miles. my problem is not while i,m driving it or while the engine it warm but when the engine is cold there is coolant leaking from the right rear part of the engine. I know the 6.0 has had problems with there egr coolers but they will normally leak under press (in a hard pull) but mine leaks after the engine is cold. I can park the truck after driving it and there is no coolant leaking from the engine. When i get up for work the next morning there it is coolant on the ground, right rear part of the engine. As i was looking for the leak i noticed coolant drips hanging from the starter and trans lines i looked at the head gasket and there is coolant around it aswell. looks as if it is leaking from the egr cooler or hose. I do not want to start replacing parts to try to fix it, is there any diagnostic procedures to check this problem. Thanks this forum is great. my name is Doug.
Thanks guys this web site is great. sorry it took me awhile to post back what i found, but i went on vacation. i removed the turbo and found the egr coolant hose was leaking. I went to the ford dealer and purchased the new hose for about $28.00 and replaced it and it has not leaked yet. I bought the new Bully Dog triple dog and then went on vacation. We drove nearly 1400 miles round trip and the truck did great. 20 miles per gallon with 7 people and all luggage. thanks again for this forum.
