Wheel upgrade

I have a 2001 f-150 two wheel drive and i wanted to change out the rims and tires for summer. Does anyone know how big of a rim a person can use with the original brakes? Are there brake upgrades available that won't cost an arm and a leg?

Upgrading from stock rotors to some sort of vented disk makes the biggest difference. While this isn't super cheap, it will work for mild rim upgrades. I'd say that you should be fine up to about a 20'' rim and stock to mildly oversize tires. Don't quote me though, there's no math to support what I'm saying, just a gut feeling. Lots of guys don't upgrade the brakes when they go with bigger rims, but we can call those guys stupid.

We (tirerack.com) sell up to 22" for your truck.

Brake kits are pretty expensive but upgrading your pads and/or rotors will help if you go to a large wheel size.
