Question Better mileage?

I have a stock 06 250 Super Duty 6.0, I'm getting approx. 17 mpg Hwy.
Is it possible to get better by adding cold air and/or 5" exhaust?

I've never seen a change in mileage with the two 6.0 I've put exhaust on. I've never put an aftermarket intake on so I can't say much for that.
Super Economy tune from LIPD would get you the best results.

I would totally agree. Biggest gains with my last truck were from running a good tune. Intake will give you nothing and exhaust minimal.

diesel world article says you can, I posted the info a week or so ago. Milage wasnt much but it was 18+ as I recall, almost 20 with the use of synthetic fluids in a 4x4.

Started out with 17mpg stock, ended up with 23mpg total after the above, a chip and a bed cover!

Cheapest improvement for about a 2+ mpg was use a premium fuel. Premium fuel is about 2 cents more.

I think a tune would be your best increase. I have done exhaust mods in the past with no increase. As far an air filter, I would stay with the OEM, it's probably the best filter I've ever used.

I have never seen "premium" diesel in Az or any western state for that matter, is this common in the upper midwest or northeast just curious?

I have found the premium pumps mixed in with the regular diesel pumps. No prices out at the road, just the pumps. I've had to look sometimes while traveling.

I've also never heard of premium diesel. Does anyone know if it's sold in South Florida?

I think all the #2 pumps up here are marked Premium diesel. At least at the stations I go to. Thought it was just marketing hype.

Meijer store gas stations here in MI sell premium diesel. Same price as the store across the road. Not sure if it's any better though.

Every station here in Chicagoland says "premium" for diesel.

Unless I'm mistaken, add a good cetane boost, such as Diesel Kleen, when you fuel up and you'll have premium diesel. Diesels love more cetane. Mine runs smoother, starts easier, and gets about 0.8 mpg better.
