smoke at start
Hello all. I have a 7.3 turbo IDI 94 F250. When you start it, should I hold down the pedel? If I don't, it makes a white smoke for about 10 -15 sec then clears up. Is this normal. I did just change the glow plugs, and now my alt gauge no longer flips from side to side, also my wait to start light stays on longer,when it use to go off at about 2 seconds. So I would say that my glow plugs are fine now. I don't have the book owners book for the car, so I have no idea if it normal. Thanks.

White smoke for a few seconds after a cold start is normal.
It is usually worse in the winter.
The white smoke is unburnt fuel, the combustion chamber does not have enough heat in it to completely burn the fuel yet.
