If you install the high idle mod, you should be alright, however at regular idle the truck will use .8 GPH. At High idle (1200 rpm) it will use around 1.2 GPH.
I would not recommend that long of an idling time due to the complicated EGR system (cooler and valve that are prone to gooing up with soot) although FoMoCo has a new flash that's supposed to eliminate/reduce EGR use while idling. Also, the high speed idle mod should help eliminate wet-stacking issues but that will also increase fuel use.
In short, I'd say let it idle long enough to cool the turbo and turn off unless you need the trucks power for some application (auxiliary power source, etc.) not mentioned.
BTW I poached a turbo due partially to a gooed up EGR system and I can't help but believe a lot of that accumulation was due to prolonged idling prior to reading (on these FTE forums) that there was no real advantage to doing so w/ the 6.0. I've since bought a remote start/alarm that enables me to warm it up or cool it down w/out being in the truck for several minutes.

This says their power generator running at 50% load uses .9 gph with the torqueshift, .5 gph with the 5 (?) speed manual. With the PTO enganged, the idles up to 1200 +/-. Where did your numbers come from, Ryan?
Hand calculated. Matt had told me what it averages, so I decided to check mine. That is assuming the mileage while driving was constant, but for me it was close enough.
i work in the oil field, my 84 military blazer runs from the time i get up until i get home, my k9 (retired) goes with me and he wants nice cool air , or heat depending on the time of year, besides i dont like the idea of a no start in the middle of the woods most wreckers wont come where we end up, i found that out when the blazer died

Reason: messed up
Wetstacking is what occurs when the cylinder temps are not high enough to burn all the fuel being injected into the cylinder. Which in turn increases fuel in the oil and creates havoc from there via severa different avenues.
btw where is the menu to place all of your specs with your replies and posts, feeling real dumb on this one
What you see at the bottom or our posts is the "signature" which is availble for setup in your user profile. But you do not have enough posts yet for it to show up.
