Does anyone know what size bulbs are in the z series gauges?
One of the gauges that I just had instaled is pretty dim,and hard to see at
night.
I thought I would get some green leds to match the dash, and hopefully brighten
things up.
The 194 bulb is what you need. I got my LED's from that same place. I went with the 5-LED (1 in the center, 4 on the edges pointing out) bulb for all of mine, in green.
I literally ordered 4 different bulbs that would fit in the gauges from them, a single LED all the way up to the 6 LED. I did this to see what I liked best, before I ordered up 7 of them for my gauges. The 5 LED produced good light, less than that was too dim, and the 6 LED was too bright.
I think they do. They may be just a touch brighter, but I can read them clearly and it's not distracting. I have the Carbon Fiber gauges, and I'm sure the dark face makes the lighting different than if they were white or silver faced.
No, its wierd. The spot where there is supposed to be a bulb has a sticker stating if you try to take it apart you might destroy the gauge. Its already an LED bulb inside, but you cant change it.
Yeah John i know what you mean. I bought a Sport Comp 2 guage to just get the trans temp sender because i thought it was bad (ended up not being that), and the guage has the internal lighting you can't tamper with. (I have it sitting here if anyone wants it). But i do have two z-series guages, i put one of those on the pillar and moved the trans temp to the instrument bezel, and with the 4-spot LED bulbs, i notice the Z-series is a tad dimmer than the other two Sport Comp's with the same bulb. I am going to order up two 5-spot bulbs and put them in the z-series to see how they fair against the Sportcomps for brightness. OH and while you are there, buy two more CLEAR 5-spot LED wedge 194's, for the license plate lights in the back. They just look awesome with white LED's in them.
