I am thinking of trading in my 99 F250 SD and need to fix a few things. My power mirrors (both driver and passenger) will not adjust to the left, my power locks make noise when you hit the button but will not lock or unlock, and no matter what setting I have it on only my defrost vents work ( I can get either hot or cold). Does anyone have any ideas on what the problems may be and how to fix them?
The defrost problem is either a vacuum leak or a bad vacuum pump. The hvac blend door runs off vacuum and defrost is the default position in case of vacuum loss.
Common sense says that if both mirrors work in all directions but left then it is a bad switch. It is fairly simple to swap out so try that first and if it doesn't fix it return the new switch and post back here to do more trouble shooting.
You can repair the mirror switch yourself. I had the same problem and bought a new switch and was able to repair the old one. Remove the switch and it has clips were you can take it apart. Clean and bend the contact points were they make good contact. This should fix it if not let me know. I will give you a good deal on a new switch.
