running hot

man this last weekend is causing more problems.....after dunking it into a mud hole it hasn't been rite.ive dried all electrical, replaced and dried air duct, the water pump started leaking and it was over heating. i hoped replacing the water pump would take care of the over heating but it hasn't. i don't think the thermostat is bad as the upper hose is hot after running.

so iam thinking the radiator is possible covered with dirt where i can not see it.

whats the best approach to cleaning this ?
**EDIT**
it is/was dirty.

i took the shrowd off and iam spraying the radiator off with a garden hose.

I'd pressure wash/car wash the radiator...

Twisted, i dont know of any way of checking the clutch(thermal fan.) change it , they are cheap. On my 85 f-150 i finally changed it after over 400000 miles it still turned strong but was getting a higher than normal temp reading . Think i paid 15 bux for mine Good luck

I'd have though you should be able to see visually if its working ok. at idle it should spin the fan, and at high revs it shouldn't
