I just installed that train horn relay that I picked up last week from Ebay.
Along with that I installed a big air tank from a converted 20lb propane cylinder with 3/8" line between the big tank and the solinoid.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!
It's like giving that horn a 4 barrel carburator.
I can feel it vibrating my insides if I stand next to the truck and lay on it.
If you want great air horns, don't wimp out on what feeds it. It makes all the difference in the world.
Tell me more about the train horn relay. Ive got 2 sets of Hadley air horns on my truck and a solenoid that I bought off of ebay for $30 or so but sometimes it either doesnt come on quickly (several second delay) or the solenoid sticks and a little "lights green, get moving" turns into "get the F out of the way man!"
Jeremy the pump shuts off at 130 so it's not as high as some. But, trust me, with that big tank and the fat line feeding the solinoid, I have no plans to go any higher.
Sorry TNT no pictures this time.
I'll say that the little round solinoid valves that you can get from NAPA and other places are useless. Even brand new the valve that I had wouldn't work above 120 PSI. Apperently the air pressure holds the plunger down too hard for the electomagnet to pull it open. This new solinoid is rated for 250 PSI so there will never be any trouble, I hope.
Sorry TNT, no pictures. It's still a work in progress.

That's the same problem that I was having, except this lady pulled out in front of me on the freeway after being pulled over by the local law enforcement. I was in the right lane, doing 60, pulling the trailer and I nearly rear ended her even doing a hard stop. My horn failed me at that time and I was really needing it. What bothered me the most is the policeman saw the whole thing and did nothing.
I would have pulled them back over and given a ticket for failure to yield.
Dan that was my prob .. my system at 140 psi would not allow it to open .. so I put on a regulator and set it at 125psi .. worked great until the cheapy regulator failed .. these are BIG valves from Seige engineering .. i need better valves.

It's not exactly what I have, they are apperently sold out, but the brass body of the air valve looks the same. It has a 15 mm valve on it vs the little tiny hole on the cheapo valves. This particular one is rated at a working pressure of 150 psi with a 215 max. It should do the trick.
