there are a few methods of using that stuff. it works great for sure. depends on what your trying to accomplish.

I dumped half can into gas tank and to the rest sucked thru the large vac line that connects the intake to the brake booster. disconnect from brake booster and let the engines vacum suck it in. you will need to stay on the throttle a little bit to keep it running until can is dry. then let sit for 5-10mins and start back up again running it for 10-15 mins maybe even drive it down the street and back.

going thru the tube cleans the intake, heads and combustion camber. while going thru the tank helps with the injectors and fuel system etc..
once complete change the plugs,cap/rotor and wires if they are old.
if you have a lot of sludge in the motor , dump it into the oil and follow directions for that

If you DO use it in your oil, keep a REAL close eye on your oil pressure. Hopefully you have a mechanical OP gauge, and not the factory idiot light type. If you think you might have any "chunks" in your sludge, don't use it, 'cause it can clog a pickup screen real quick. No OP sucks. Don't ask me how I know. Like KB said, it works great in the fuel and intake system.

well I ran some through the vac line that goes to the brake booster, poured some in the carb ... the rest in the gas tank, the other whole can went in to the crankcase, I got a dummy light hasnt gone on yet. but the slugde I did see wasn't chunky, so im hoping for the best.....

how long do I leave it in there for ?

Your supposed to leave it in there for 200 or so miles, I have left a half-can in there for a full 3000 mile duration with no adverse effects and the lifter tick went away (this was in a ford 2.9, notorious for lifter tick).

some chevy guy told me about this stuff too.. he just said to dump like 1/3 a cup in the carb and it'd smoke like the devil.. no mention of running in through the gas tank. is this stuff gonna do more than the b12 i run through the gas tank once every 6 months or so? i'm looking for ANY way to get better gas mileage out of my 79 302 that's still all stock as far as i'm aware. best guestimate mileage is about 10 since my speedo hasn't worked in oh, say, year and a half or so?

I used a can of this on my 79' with a 460 swap.

I figured she could benefit from it and I got several cans from Dad when he moved this year.

I popped in some through the gas tank, and put half a bottle through the vaccum line.

Got some smoke, but not a huge amount.

Someone here wrote that on the older rigs it's best to run it through the carb, the vaccum line on the old motors only pulls from the rear cylinders?

Is that accurate?

I'd like to try this on my 96' 5.8l too.

Is the brake booster hose the best route into the motor on this rig?

Thanks.

older motor, carb is best. on newer the brake booster will put the stuff right into the middle of the intake.

Cool man, thanks.

I'm dumping a can down the throat of the 460, and the 351 can sip through her brake booster line.

yup I have done the same thing with ATF for sticky valves works great. I have also used it to free stuck motors, clean my ratches, clear clugged lifters etc. ATF has a high level of detergent in it...ever see any "sludge" in an automatic transmission?

after I rebuild one my hands are real clean.....

cut the top off a qt of ATF so you can soak your ratchets..... clean them the best you can ..carb clean, high pressure air..what ever. Now place them in the qt of ATF head down and let them soak over night, might have to dump some out to make room....
The next day remove the ratchets and dump the ATF out of the bottle..now look at the bottom of the empty qt bottle. You wont believe it.
