every once in a while i'll get some noise out of my front shakcle until i spray it with wd40. is there any special way to get these on and off? when putting them back on, do i have to have it at a certain angle then tighten down or what?
No it's not that hard but it took me a while to get them off. Here's how I took mine off for my lift.
1) jack the truck up and support the frame using jack stands.
2) let the front end hang and put a another set of jack stands under the front end.
3) make sure there is no tension on the springs.
4) you will have to remove the front drive shaft to have room for the drivers side.
5) I am not sure of the size but there are two long metric bolts on each side, just use an air wrench and standard wrench to remove them.
6) I had to use a saw saw to remove the top bolt on the passenger side, because the bolt was too long and hitting the starter. When you reintall just push the new bolt through on the other side and put the nut and washer on the opposite side.
7) Just do ever thing in opposite order to reinstall
Hope this helps
What are you trying to accomplish by removing the shackle? There shouldn't be any noise coming from the shackles. Unless one of the bolts is lose causing them to move when you hit a bumb. I would try using an air impact wrench to tightened to the hell out of the bolts, first to see if that works.
well my suspension will squeak once in a while and i have located it to be the rear of the leaf/shackle. just wanted to see if i need to replace bushing in spring or if its something else.
