So I've been looking for a place ot rebuild the two 302s I have laying around. And I found one in the local automotive god that works at my store. He has everything including a reboring machine and is willing ot work for free and let me use his shop as long as I agree to learn as much as I can... Damn good deal as far as I'm concerned.
So my plan is to go all out. I have:
90 302 with 187k from a clubwagon
91 302 with 111k from a farm truck
So putting in a lot of parts will be easy. What can I do to increase low end power ( I don't mind sacrificing high end power)? And I somebody on here mentioned something about smaller intakes increase said problem? Shortie Headers? long headers? Any special kind of pistons... etc. I'll be replacing the fan with an electric fan. The truck will have 31x10.50s no lift. Is a combination of a cold air intake effective with a supercharger? I also want ot maintain my 302 reliability record of 250k plus on aevery engine. Maybe I'm nuts or expecting miracles, but let me know.

You could up the compression ratio, but you can only go so far with 93 pump gas. Aluminum heasd could help with high comp too.
Longer runner intakes give better low end, but choke on the upper rpm rang.
You could get a 331 or 347 stroker kit. I think Scat makes one with a cast crank, cast i-beam rods, and maybe you can tell them you need a cheaper cast piston, but they come with forged pistons.
A cam (most call'um RV cams) specifically for low end towing with trucks.
Long tube headers.
Best blower to use for pulling would be a roots/twin screw type blower. That would be like Eaton, Kenne Bell, Whipple, etc.
Lower rear gear if none of the above will help.
What are you looking to get out of this truck? Pulling heavy loads, off-road, etc?
@quicklook- Sorry, I was being sarcastic. It doesn't translate well over the internet.
I use the truck for farm work (hay rack, one horse trailer to the vet, thats about it for pulling), Crusing (communte, to the store), and off roading (light core, maybe 2-3 foot deep mud pits tops). I also work for the police department in winter storms pulling cars out of ditches.
What I want to do is be able to do all these things. I never go above 85 on the highway ( think its around 2400-2600 on the tach) And if I race that chevy next to me, I don't do much more than off the line stuff. It'd be cool to be able to leave a line behind me but I know thats fairly vain.
Right now I'm working three jobs so hopfully I'll be able to get a 99-03 powerstroke, but I'll still keep this truck.
I'm not blaming you guys by any means. I know a type of enigine can only do so much. Thanks for the help, but It'll probably cost me a good 3000 anyhow and that is a down payment so, I'm good... Thanks though.
