thanks god i got my little honda that gets 40mpg and my built 98 camaro gets 19 lol
Sounds about right my 93 F150 2wd with the 351 gets about 14-16 mpg around there thats my guess and the guy who had it before said he got that my driving is mostly mixed freeway city going 50-60 km then freeway is 90km its all tuned runs great proper tire pressure i also run synthetic oil dont know if makes a big difference but it helps

and i dont got much for mods just dual exhaust i also drive with a very lightfoot i keep the rpms under 2000 sometimes 1500 most people say its hard to do that it is sometimes but its go so much power it does fine gets up to speed quick enough for me some people be retards about it and tailgate or blow past yeah cause your going to slow but i dont care but a 4x4 probably gets a bit less mileage that a 2wd

[QUOTE=lostin90s]I cant bring myself to drive a M@#$% van . But they would haul my tools andget good mileage. Hey west0354 what you think the GEO would look like with 200# of tools in trunk? would the head lights hit the road?

Put you a set of wheelie bars on it........it'll be just fine!

After Katrina I had to drive down and get her out of Gulfport, stopped at some gas station south of Birmingham, gas was 3.65 a gallon and you could only get 20 dollars worth and it had to go in the tank. They had cops at the pumps and would not let me fill up a couple of 5 gallons cans even though I was going to Gulfport and there was no gas there. Stopped at a truck stop near Birminhgham on the way back, daughter was 9 months pregnant and had only had bottled water and honey buns for 4 days. When I commented that the food was the worse I had ever had she offered me her water and honey buns, inhaled her food and half of mine too.
I live just south of Decatur. I spend much time around Huntsville.

No doubt about it.....gas prices have definately changed the way we live. I can remember 10 and 15 years ago all the "spur of the moment" roadtrips I used to take. Not anymore. I either have to plan ahead or do without something.

For those of you who are in the same boat as me with the gas mileage situation, I can tell you this. For the $400 you spend in one months time, you could take $200 and put that toward the purchase of a gas saver including your insurance and only spend $100 a month in gas. still have $200 put back into your pocket. Not only did I get another little car out of the deal, I am also saving money. The truth is....I never had the money to spend on the gas in the first place. It caused me to get behind on a few things, but fortunately I am able to catch back up now with the savings.

HI Bruce better be carfull she might find out you said that

This is the bare minimum. 200 # just my Mechanics tool box (sockets ETC) is 100#

Then you got saws ,clamps, Boots hard hats , carpentry hand tools , levels ,brooms, folding drywall bench, ETC

Probably close to 400# or more .Then you got me at 200# (yea right) and a passenger. Coworker has a prizm and its bottomed out all time . So it closer to 800+ # when all is said and done.

My wife is 4'9" and goes 87 # wet. She hates when I talk about her

Later LOST

I have to use my truck for work about 125 miles a day @ 9 mpg. I'm thinking of mounting a tow bar on the truck and dagging it around with a rice burner. lol!

Gas here in Germany is about $7.45 a gallon and seems to be climbing. I get American prices which are at $3.11 now. I drive 100 miles a day in a VW and use the truck as little as possible. Hang in there everyone.

Is your VW a TDI? My Dad has an 01 TDI and in the summer he got 52mpg.

Got to love a 90hp TDI with a 5spd.

The first thing to suffer will be restaurants. I read where many of the larger restaurant chains have noticed a decline. Works for me too! We have cut out the weekly "going out to dinner" tradition and use the $30/40 to buy some gas. Motor fuel is an absolute must have, pigging out in some restaurant feeding me food that is full of colestrol and fat is not. We did not get in this mess overnight. We migrated with cheap fuel, successful marketing from auto makers and the feeling of a big heavy torquey truck under the pedal. All automakers got into a torque/horsepower race. They completely ignored the benefits of slightly less torque and horsepower on fuel mileage. The EPA regulations are now driving the spike through the heart of the diesel engine. Here I am with a 96 F250 and ready to move on into a new tow vehicle and cannot make myself spend $40,000 on a vehicle that I'm not sure I will need in two years or less. Standard of living is changing now in drastic way thanks to NAFTA, sold out politicans and high energy costs due to massive demand from worldwide markets.

Blahh....

I don't care that gas is $3-$3.50 a gallon anymore as I'm used to it. I still want my fast high hp/tq muscle cars, and big power trucks.

My Mustang GT is tuned for 93 pump, so I pay a premium, and the car is modded with low gears. My F250 has a 302 and no OD (NP435) with a 3:73 rear gear. It uses twice as much gas as my Mustang GT. I use the F250 to tow all my toys, and my Mustang GT has become the weekend cruser/track toy. Both the F250 and the Mustang are exactly what I wanted and needed and I have no complaints - even for the gas mileage.

The bottom line is this. If you want gas mileage, buy a car that gets it, but don't complain when the vehicle you bought holds 35gal of fuel and gets 8-12mpg max because it's made for towing and you use it for a daily driver.

Now if you work construction, etc., and you need towing capability, then I see no way around it. I guess you'll just need to charge more for your work.

Yep and there goes the donino effect!! I charge him more for the remodel on his home and he charges more for his goods and services to pay me! Now down the road somewhere I find the high gasoline prices are not the only thing that is changing my lifestyle. What I pay for food and other needed items are breaking me up. I can't save enough to contribute to my 401k and the government says social security is in jeopardy and they may have to make changes in the future. Yep, energy costs are the foundation of the economy because everybody needs it.
