1) Anyone that has the PocketFlares from Bushwhacker on your truck.. Can you take a hi-res photo of it from the side... Like your standing parallel to the tire? I want to photoshop them onto my truck to see if I want to go painted or not..
2) I cut a 1inch hole to route wiring out of the cab into the engine bay.. To the left of the brake pedal.. That hole lets a load of heat in.. I can feel it with my legs.. Anyone know what I can use to seal up that hole?
You could seal that hole up with a rubber split-grommet and some silicone sealer.
Thats the thing.. I can't find them.. I went everywhere looking for a grommet just like we have on the firewall that wires and such go through.. Only stuff parts stores have are those rubber grommets that look like all they do it protect wires from being cut on the edges.. They aren't like the other ones..
Also the flender flares I'm considering.. But can't decide if I want them jsut black.. Or paint them the same Gray I have on the bottom of my truck.. Wonder what that would look like if the gray bottom continued up and over my wheels well then onto my front bumper since my ARB that I'm getting is powdercoated gray as well..
most of the time I use a commercial grade fire-stop caulking as it resists high temps up to 1000 deg f in most cases & does not dropout as you try to work it in, I just use some duct tape on the inside & push it through the hole & smooth out the caulk after it starts to set up I hope this helps.

Take some side-cutters and slice a small pie-shaped section out of that style grommet and you've got a home-made split grommet. It's not a thing of beauty but you'll only need a small amount of silicone to seal up the remaining gap.
Sounds like you've made up your mind on painting/coating the flares gray, which I think woul look real sharp!

Thats the thing.. I can't find the grommets.. Ones on my firewall are used.. The ones in the parts store are just like.. For example taking a piece of vacuum hose and cutting a slit in it to put it around a circle cut you made to cover the sharp edge.. It's not a rubber plug.. I searched Autozone, Advanced, Oriellys, Napa and Pepboys.. Can't find em anywhere.. I may just throw some duct tape over it lmao.. Its just my KC switch wire and my boost cable..
As for the flares I dont know... I'm afraid I pay the money to paint them they may look funny.. I saw an F150 on that Canada Dealers site.. The one who sells the "FX6" packages.. It was like mine, black/gray and it looked sharp.. Just dont know what it'd do to a superduty.. My concern was the ARB brushguard comes powder coated Gray from factory.. Really dont want to pay to get it powder coated black because.. Well as you can see everything is pretty much chrome on my truck.. So I figured gray would work because I got that strip at the bottom..
I dunno.. Flares are expensive but tis a mod I gotta think about.. I have noticed more gunk on the sides of my truck from the tires sticking out.. Concerned about rocks now chipping everything up without flares..
Paint them the same color as the grey on the bottom of your truck. The pocket style flares are only about $450, which compared to everything else on your truck isn't that bad!! You should be able to find a cable grommet from either Napa or a plumbing store sometimes carries rubber grommets in different varieties... they're out there!
AND .. when you get the pocket flares, just put duct tape on them, 'bout the same gray anyway
OK Mr Lets run the Positive and Negative wires for the Gauge A-Arm without disconnects so Storm can't remove the A-Arm..
What? What was that? Nothing? Exactly.. I may just make you fix that this weekend.. You weren't there to witness my struggle with putting a bulb cover in because Papa Smurf got cheap on the wire ;-)
It's ok... I still like you... Every little man needs a big man to protect him LMAO
i have the bushwacker pocket style flares that don't need cutting. I left them the stock color that comes from teh factory, still decieding if i cam going to paint or not. The pics are in the gallrty and if you want and more views i will gladly take them for you.
Storm,
Go to Summit Racing.com and go to brands, then Seal-It, They make exactly what you are looking for. They make several different sizes of firewall grommets to seal your hole and they allow to add or remove wires at any time unlike if you seal it with silicone or so other kind of goop.
Lowe's Home Improvements (if you have them there in Texas) has rubber groumets of many sizes. They are usually located near the cabinetry hardware/specialty hardware. The center is solid. You just use a knife or razor to make a slit for your wires.
