Swapping standard trannys
I have a 78 f100 and I was wondering if I could swap in a 4 spd standard for a 3spd standard with an overdrive. I realize I may have to adjust the length of the drive shaft but would the rest just bolt on without to much modification?

You have a 3 speed with an od on the tail? And you want a straight 4 speed? Which one?
You are probably ok on bolting it up, but may need a driveshaft shortened or lengthened.
Let us know what you have now, and what 4 speed you are going to swap in there.

Probably a direct bolt in, but only a tape measure and side-by-side comparison will tell the tale.
You need the low first more than the OD?
Also, you may have to cut a new hole for the shifter, as I would guess the shifter on the OD is offset to the left, while the other is on center.
