now I'm sure that this question has been beat to death, but I can't find it.
how do I prevent the exhaust from coming in the rear window when its open?
I already bought the Lund windjammer (spoiler) which is supposed to force air down the back of the truck and keep exhaust away but it doesn't do much. I'm sure theres a simple solution that everybody but me knows.
I was just wondering the same thing. I'm going to try having the muffler shop bring the tailpipe out at a 90 degree angle up higher and closer to the back of the rear tire. It's at ~45 degrees now and doesn't really clear the body. I'll know if it helps on Saturday...
I have my duals 45 under the corners and turned down at 45 as well. No smell at all, they are right tight under the bumper, almost can't see em' from the back.
Turning the exhaust out at a 90 really seems to have helped. No noticable exhaust smell in the short time I was driving today. I had two new cats installed to replace the hollowed out ones on the truck, so the exhaust doesn't stink as much as it did before. But 100% better now.
hey guys, to be honest I thought that this was a much bigger problem than I am realizing it is. I figured that every Bronco owner had this exhaust issue but by the lack of responses I guess that its not, which is good. Anyway I've tried both front windows open and you still have to be doing 80 kmh and even then you catch the odd wiff. So I guess the answer is in the exhaust setup itself, i currently have it @ 90* but its not as close to the tire as Barons, does anyone know if going straight out the back is any good or not? thanks
I usually start driving with the rear window down but raise it within a block or so due to exhaust smell. Yes, I also thought all Broncos had exhaust smell. Yesterday I replaced the Motorcraft 8mm plug wires with Ford Racing 9mm, cap and rotor. The wires may have been the original ones. The coil output terminal had a lot of corrosion to clean up and dielectric and the cap inside had arrow markings on every terminal. Anyway, I made five short trips around town today and surprisingly never smelled any exhaust with the rear window down. The exhaust is stock. I thought the improved driveability might have been in my head until I realized the exhaust smell was gone. I have not rechecked the timing yet that was on 12btdc but will soon. Timing chain and copper plugs are new so I'm looking forward to a mileage check when I get enough money to fill it up.
