Yes, much cheaper than $425 for a housing.

its actually less efficient. Takes 2-3psi of boost and relocates the "surge point" to where not many trucks surge. But the expensive housing will make the same boost and flow more air.

Helps with turbo surge. Its got a totally diffrent compressor map then your stocker. I believe it makes less boost as well.

You will lose low end power, and gain nothing on the top end but reduce surge. Those are the facts of life. That safety on the top end is worth it to many but not me. I'm not giving anything away. There are many reasons folks quote for the older turbo wheel but I'm a firm believer that Ford abandoned the WW as a result of HP wars and the newer wheel answered that call until they went common rail.

So the WW eliminates surge at a cost. The latter wheel makes more power down low and across the board and "could" damage the turbo when maxed out, or fluttering/surging. The WW will reduce this symptom by reducing the performance of the turbo and therefore overall performance. You can almost visualize the diff in performance by looking at the diff in the vanes of both units.

So do you want the older impeller wheel or keep what you have? If longevity is your primary concern, the older WW is the way to go toning down the power, as with any engine.

I installed a WW a couple of months ago,yes I lost a little on the bottom end but I can still roast all four tires on my dana 80 when I want too. I also have to be careful with the boost I have my waste gate disabled and it will swing 30+ to 35 easy so as far as losing boost I can't agree with that. It eliminated the bad surge I had between 1600 RPM to 2000 RPM and the sound is just fantastic.

Well, the big selling point of the WW is surge elimination so choose based on your requirements. With any fooler or annihilator you may be good. I just think Ford didn't fall totally on their face with the later wheel. They do everything for a reason. You can bet they tested that too because of warranty reasons.
