Sound effects. Did you know that the sound effects used for all the various laser gun sounds in the first three Star Wars films were actually the sounds that arrows make when they are shot?
The arrows were real, and the sound they made was also real. The film that these sounds came from was: The Adventures of Robin Hood (Warner Brothers 1938). The film, shot in three strip Technicolor, starred Errol Flynn and Olivia DeHavilland.
This bit of trivia comes from an interview that Turner Classic Movies did with Steven Spielberg, while Spielberg was discussing the films and George Lucas.

Spaceballs is great too. It was a Mel Brooks film that parodied Star Wars. Lucas didn't really have anything to do with it.
However, there were two made for TV movies featuring the Ewoks from Return of the Jedi. Ewoks: Caravan of Courage, and Ewoks: The Battle For Endor. They were mostly kids movies, but I still like them. The actually released them on DVD not too long ago. There also has been a TV Christmas special that Lucas has all but disowned since it was so bad and he didn't really have anything to do with it. You can find it on the web if you want to put yourself through the pain of watching it. Finally there have been 3 cartoon series. Two of them in the mid 80s Droids, which followed C3PO and R2D2 around (supposedly took place before a new hope, but I think when Lucas decided to make the prequels he chose to ignore them) and Ewoks, a cartoon about the Ewoks. The latest cartoon Clone Wars was on the Cartoon Network and is a great show. It takes place in between Episodes 2 and 3 and follows Obi Wan and Anakin through the Clone Wars. All three cartoons have been released on DVD (Droids and Ewoks are not the complete series though, just a few of the episodes).
Lucas is supposedly working on a new live action TV show to come out in 08 or so, but I haven't really looked into it much lately so I'mnot sure what's going on there.

I have always been a fan!!! All of my toys are still at my moms house in the attic. The only complaint I have is I wanted episode 3 to show more of Annikan as Darth Vader. Like how he grew into so much power over the Empire. I think there needs to be an Episode 3.5 because to me there is a big skip in the story from Palpatine getting control over the Senate, Annikan being made into Darth Vader, and where a New Hope picks up with Leah sending R2D2 and C3PO for Obi Wan's help.
