Star Wars-30 year Anniversary

It's the 30 year anniversary of the first Star Wars movie.

Any Star Wars fans?

I've seen just the first three, but not the last three movies.

The last 3 explain the first 3.

I have them all in Beta/VHS/DVD. Even the re-released THX version of the original.

I was in San Diego In June of 1980 and saw TESB when it came out.

Our screens at theatres in Calgary in 1980 had already been shrunk ..so it was treat to see it on the Really Big Screen.

I can't believe it's been 30 years since the first one came out. Saw the first one at it's DC opening, my best friend at the times mom was a congress woman from Colorado she took us to the preimer here. As I recall we were the only kids in the place, rest was filled with political/big wig types.

I've been a HUGE Star Wars geek since I saw the first one in 1977.

Now, are those the last 3 that are actually the first 3 but came after the first 3 which are actually the last 3?

:-D

My biggest disappointment with episodes 1-3 was the amount of CG that Lucas used. Eps 4-6 were ground-breaking in their special effects, but 1-3 looked like he just hired a few people to sit down and their computers and do all the backdrops and then some. I think it totally ruined the experience that 4-6 created when they came out. I still liked the movies, though.

Get the documentary on the "Making of star wars" as it's a real eye opener about the financing of movies in hollywood and taking a chance

It was only the profit of several of his hits that allowed for the building of the "State of the art" special effects studio.

I remember when I watched the first Star Wars movie on a big screen, back in 1977.

What a great visual. Then I looked up at the sound system.

Altec Lansing A7's; a whole bunch of them. Fantastic sound. :-X21

ILM has a digital arts center here in S.F.
It would be nice to take a tour of that facility.

Maybe Yoda was asexual and didn't need a miss Yodet.

Now lets talk about this "life size Princess Leah doll". :-X03

Well,I cant really go into detail, cause I am not sure if it was my light saber or her rhinestones or my rhinestones that started the fire but,,, :p

My ex-sister inlaw would have made a great Mrs Yoda, she looked like him, walked like him, sounded like him,,,

Actually there was a female Yoda creature, her name was Yaddle and she was in Phantom Menace. There has been much debate that thier species may be called the Whills since in the original novel for A New Hope on the first page it says "From the Journal of the Whills" or something like that.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a Star Wars nerd too.

Edit\ Actually I just checked Star Wars.com and now they have decided that Yoda and Yaddle are not Whills. Evidently the Whills are a completely different race, but it was one of their Shamans who taught Qui Gon how to become one with the Force and shed his physical body. I guess there is a couple scenes in the script for Revenge of the Sith where Yoda and Qui Gon talk about it, but they got cut, or were never filmed.

I remember asking my mom everyday for a month to take me to see A New Hope in one of the last big screens in Scottsdale. I have been in love with Star Wars ever since.

Just look at my quote
