Catalytic Converter clogged
Finally got this truck -1989 F350 - running! I think my catalytic converter is clogged. I beat on it and got some stuff out but it still seems clogged. Any ideas on that?

You cannot simply blow or knock the stuff back out. Those converters are prone to fail due to a substandard packing and the size of the catalyst. Basically what happens is that as the bricks expand and contract the open up gaps around the edges of the packing. This causes exhaust gases to destroy the packing, and once the padded mat has failed, the catalyst will rattle loose and deteriorate. There are several available fixes.
