I was wondering. I have a 1992 Ford Bronco. My four wheel drive doesn't work. I tried it earlier this year and it worked fine. I put it in and all it did was rattle. Now it wont even click in anyone know what it could be or what i could do???
if its a manual shift check linkage as they can rust and hang up .And not engage the whole way. I have had to removed mine to get it to loosen up.
If its an auto (power switch) Let us know and we'll help ahh

just when i press the button nothing happens. it will click once and then click again. it just wont engage. i tried putting it in nuetral. that didnt help either. also tried it while driving. isnt their some kind of breaker for the electronic 4 wheel drive??
The electric shift motor on the transfer case is notorious for getting sluggish when not used. To shift to 4L put the transmission in neutral then press 4H then 4L. When I got my Bronco I pressed buttons for two or three minutes, waited untill the next time I went somewhere and tried again. Again, let the motor cool and it worked the third session and has been fine every since then. Now I try to remember to shift into 4L monthly even though not rolling an inch in 4L Everytime I'm off pavement I put it in 4WD and make a u-turn to keep everything free and sling grease around in the front differential.
