need help
i just bought a 1990 f350 with a 460 to tow my race trailer, and i need to know how hard it is to change the steering gear box? also what should i check, the abs light stays on? otherwise it's a good running truck.

Replacing the steering box should`nt be a big deal. Remove the drop arm, disconnect the steering column shaft at the box, disconnect the hoses and undo the bolts holding it to the frame. By the way, why do you need to replace it? The RABS light on means that the RABS control module has detected a fault and the RABS will not work. Check that your stop lights are working, check brake fluid level and check electrical connector at master cylinder. Thr RABS system is not that good anyway and some guys live without it. However, when working, it does stop rear wheels locking on wet surfaces under heavy braking when truck is unloaded.

Don't know if your is the same as my son's 94 but his speed sensor on the pumkin was bad and his ABS light was on. Put a new one in and light is off and everything is working great now. I just don't know if the 90 model has the speed sensor or not. You could just look on top of the pumkin and see if there is one there.
